Anime Titles With Some Interesting Story Behind Them

Hello everyone and welcome to our Blog Code 43. A friend kept asking me the reasons for different anime names, he was all like- “Why is it named this” Or “it doesn’t even relate?” and had been a pain in the but… and there were many others in similar conditions. so I thought… why not put it on the blog… so, let’s get started.

1. ANGEL BEATS

1. ANGEL BEATS

A 13 episode anime which belongs to genre Action, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy. The story revolves around a School of souls of high schoolers who had deep regret at the time of dying. But some students began retaliating, and the student council president, a cute girl name Angel had to keep ’em in check. There are quite a few awesome songs in the anime, so people tend to misunderstand the songs as a reference to the word “BEATS” in the title…. but in the last episode the mystery behind the word Beats is revealed and the reference touched the deepest part of my heart. I won’t reveal the twist since it’d be the worst kind of spoiler.

2. ATTACK ON TITANS

2. ATTACK ON TITANS

The name here doesn’t have much of a history but has quite an interesting story behind it. It’s an ongoing Anime about a Kingdom which is surrounded by giant walls, to protect the last of humanity as, rest of the humanity has been eaten by giant humanoid creatures known as titans living outside the walls. When suddenly the MC gets the ability to transform into a titan. Now the story behind the title is that the Japanese title is Shingeki no kyojin, which means Attack titan, which is the name for the titan the mc transforms in. But the English title given to the anime is attack on titan, referring to the war waged against titans by humanity. This twist was already revealed in the manga, but very few readers pointed it out.

3. ERASED

3. ERASED

The anime was named “Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi” In Japanese which means “The town Where only I am missing”. The anime revolves around a series of murders that took place when the mc was in elementary school. The MC keeps getting sent back in time to avoid misfortunes. Suddenly he gets thrown to his elementary school self and ultimately saves a few lives. But in doing so he gets comatose for 18 years and so was removed from the time which he was supposed to be a part and so was “Erased” from the city.

4. YOUR LIE IN APRIL

4. YOUR LIE IN APRIL

A romance anime, guaranteed to wet your eyes as soon as you get the meaning behind the title. The MC (Arima kousei) meats a friend (named Kaori)of his childhood friend (Tsubaki) in a park, who’s is head over heels for the Best friend (Watari) of MC, in April month of his final year in middle school. Arima was a piano prodigy but faced a trauma as a kid which left him tone-deaf and had quit playing piano, but Kaori who’s a violinist, turns his world upside down and ultimately brings him back to the world of music. And in the last episode, she left a letter for arima, in which she tells about the one lie she told and lived in the previous April. A lie that left the audience in a moment of shock and sorrow at the same time.

5. BLEACH

5. BLEACH

The anime is all about a war between shinigami (soul reapers) and evil spirits known as hollow. There is just no reference in the anime to the word BLEACH in the story, except the naturally orange hair of the MC Ichigo Kurosaki, which everyone mistakes for being artificially bleached. But trust me no sane writer names his story after the hair color of MC only. The title Bleach is a reference to the “cleansing” of spirits which is the role of a shinigami. The second reason as stated by its writer Kubo is that he was going to name it black, referring to the color of the uniform of soul reapers, but decided against it as it was boring and named it Bleach referring to white.
