BREAKING NEWS: Twitter Removes the Blue Tick: Users Have to Pay for It: The microblogging platform ‘Twitter’ removes the legacy blue tick of all verified accounts. Users have to pay $7 per month for web logins and $11 for using Twitter on Android or iOS.

On April 12, CEO Elon Musk warned that all users who are not paying for Twitter Blue will lose their blue verification ticks. Now Twitter Blue is a paid subscription service, only the users who subscribed, will able to have a blue checkmark in front of their names.

What is Blue Tick?

Blue Tick is a symbol (checkmark) that appears next to the user’s name on Twitter and other social media platforms. It identifies that the account is verified and belongs to a public figure, celebrity, business, or brand. It helps to find it out whether the account is real or not.

Twitter Removes the Blue Tick: Users have to pay $7 per month for web logins and $11 for using Twitter on Android or iOS. In India, the cost of a Twitter Blue subscription is Rs. 900 per month for users using Android or iOS while for web clients it costs Rs. 650 per month.

Users Have to Pay for It: Twitter also offers a discounted plan, which is a yearly plan where it asks for Rs. 6,500 means around Rs. 566 per month. Meanwhile, verified accounts are now showing this message: “This account is verified because they are subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number.”

The CEO Elon Musk informed it later that for some celebrities, he is ‘personally paying’ to keep their checkmarks – “I’m paying for a few personally.” He tweeted, “Just Shatner, LeBron, and King.”
